UNWLA Book Club: “National Tribune” — The Life and Ideas of Ivan Vovchuk

Andrew Palm and I took part in a Zoom meeting with Yurij Wowczuk, organized by the UNWLA Book Club.

The book we discussed today is “National Tribune” by Oleh Protsenko — a biography of Ivan Vovchuk, Yurij Wowczuk’s grandfather.

This is not only a story about the Ukrainian nationalist movement and Ivan Vovchuk’s significant role in it, but also a guide to understanding the history of the 20th century.

The book is well structured, full of notes, explanations, and references. Despite its length, it reads easily — thanks in large part to the brilliant translation by Alisa Kremenetska.
